Ruby for beginners and introduction to Rails: Learn how to programm in Ruby, learn object-oriented programming priciples and understand which packages to use for which type of application. At the end of the course you should be able to create simple Ruby applications and we will create a simple Rails web application during the course.

Course Details

This course is designed for those who wish to start programming with one of the newest scripting languages.

Ruby for beginners covers the following topics:

  • Why Ruby: Understand the advantages and disadvantages of Ruby
  • Start programming in Ruby: Understanding variables, control structures and methods
  • Object-oriented programming: Understanding Classes and Objects
  • More object-oriented techniques: Modules, method overloading, polymorphism
  • Understand which packages to use for which type of application/ which libraries to use for common tasks
  • Ruby on Rails: Creating extensible and modular web applications with only a few lines of code
